It's the deal has now been linked to Lawrence's huge Madden NFL 23 signing bonus from the league. However, it's been misrepresented that the bonus was paid in cryptocurrency. If it was an honest error, or just an attempt to make the story a little sexier, we're at the same point: an endorsement agreement with a crypto firm was paid for in crypto and nothing more.
Then, on Tuesday, a writer for The Sun Sentinel took information published by Coinjournal and posted an unintentional tweet mocking that Jaguars QB. Of course, this is not trueas there is no proof that Lawrence put his $24M in cryptocurrency. The fact is that this information was reported in several stories claiming that Lawrence had fumbled the bag even though that's not the instance.
It's all good news. Nobody should root for anyone losing their money, not even as schadenfreude. It's not ideal, but far from a catastrophe.
