Diablo 2: Resurrected will receive the Class Balance Patch from Hulda Onions's blog

Since its September release, D2R items for sale has introduced a number of significant and minor changes to the classic action-RPG. However, a patch scheduled for release in early 2022 will take the game even further into uncharted territory, bringing significant balance changes to Diablo II for the first time in more than a decade, as well as the game's first ladder season.

Patch 1.13c, released in March 2010, was the last balance update for the original Diablo II, and the game has been considered a solved game ever since. Veteran players know the game like the back of their hands and are well-versed in the strategies that work and those that don't. The game's various recruitable mercenaries will be updated with the release of patch 2.4, which will tweak various class skills, introduce new Runewords, make changes to various set items, and tweak the game's various recruitable mercenaries. The upcoming balance changes to Diablo II: Resurrection will have no effect on the original Diablo II, which is still playable today.

In a Blizzard blog post, the company explains that the goal is to encourage new class build diversity while still remaining true to the fantasy and specialty that each class provides. While Blizzard wants to give you more freedom to create the builds you want to play, the company does not want to'reinvent the wheel' and divert classes away from their primary objectives.

While the blog post does not go into specifics, it does provide an overview of the general changes that will be implemented in each of the game's seven classes. A variety of melee-focused skills such as Impale and Fend will be boosted as part of the Amazon's revamped skillset, while the Assassin's Martial Arts build will be made more viable at higher difficulties as part of his revamped skillset. Summons will see some improvements across classes such as Druid and Necromancer, as well as updates to summons that are less frequently used. A number of Paladin skills, including Fist of the Heavens, will be updated to make them more appealing to players, and offensive auras will be updated as well. Paladin is perhaps Diablo II's most popular class. That is only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to corruption.

D2 Resurrected items will see a number of balance changes, and they aren't just limited to class changes. Other aspects of the game, such as underutilized set items and the game's various recruitable mercenaries, will also receive updates. Because of their high damage output and built-in beneficial aura, the desert mercenary from Act II is widely regarded as the best option for players. Patch 2.4, however, may bring about some changes for mercenaries, though specifics on these changes are still unknown. According to Blizzard, many players enjoy using the Desert Mercenary, and the company wants to provide more reasons for players to use the other three mercenaries as well. As a result, the company is looking into improving their skills and stats in order to enhance their identity and fantasy.

Diablo fans have been waiting with bated breath for the start of the game's first ladder rank season, which will finally arrive with the release of patch 2.4. At least for the duration of the season, those who are playing ladder characters will have access to new Runewords that are not available to those who are playing normal characters (at least for the time being). For the duration of each ladder season, Blizzard has stated that it is currently considering four-month seasons, though this does not appear to be finalized at this point.

In a recent interview, Diablo II: Resurrection design lead Robert Gallerani stated that the team chose not to make balance changes to the game at launch because they wanted to provide an authentic experience for players. They are looking forward to making more significant changes, such as those included in patch 2.4, now that the game has been available for several months and the development team has had time to digest player feedback.
