Bears chairman George McCaskey voted against 17-game schedule from wisepowder's blog

The NFL has officially closed the book on the 16-game schedule era, a move that has garnered both excitement and displeasure. While the vote to move to a 17-game regular season was overwhelmingly positive, it wasn’t unanimous. And it sounds like the Chicago Bears were at least one club against the decision. To get more news about cheap chicago bears jerseys, you can visit bearsbuy official website.

While we don’t have an explanation from McCaskey, he has expressed concerns in the past about potentially expanding the regular season. Mostly, he wanted to know how an additional game might affect player health and safety.

“We’d have to see what the proposal amounts to, what it would detail,” McCaskey said during training camp back in 2019, via the Chicago Tribune. “… I’ll be interested to see what the particulars are.”

The move itself will help bolster the league’s revenue, which also includes some new major television and media deals, along with additional revenue from an extra regular-season game.

But, of course, the concern remains the health and safety of the players, and some — like New Orleans’ Alvin Kamara — have voiced their displeasure with the decision.
