How to Clear a Clogged Kitchen Faucet Line from KieranRedmond's blog

If you are wondering how to clear a clogged faucet line, there are a few basic steps that you can take. To begin, you should turn off the hot and cold water valves to your faucet. Once you have done this, unscrew the flexible supply lines attached to your faucet. These lines are typically gray or white in color. After removing the lines, gradually turn the water on to check the water pressure. If the pressure is low, there is probably a blockage somewhere in the pipes.

Turn off the hot and cold water lines

If you're still experiencing low water pressure, the problem may be elsewhere. To determine where the blockage is located, turn off the hot and cold water lines and the main water supply line. Unscrew the flexible water supply lines, which are usually braided and white or grey. Once the flexible lines are unscrewed, slowly turn the water back on.

Apply emery cloth

Next, you can try removing the aerator. This part is usually hand tight and can be easily removed with pliers or an adjustable wrench. Be careful not to damage the aerator by twisting it too hard. If you're unable to remove the aerator, you can wrap some duct tape around it or apply emery cloth to the area.

Use a toothbrush

If you can't reach the aerator, you may have a blocked line. If so, you should clean the aerator and soaking it overnight in vinegar. You can also try using a toothbrush to clean the holes in the aerator. Be sure to tighten the aerator if you see any leaks.

The valves for your faucet can be hard to remove, so it's important to shut off the valves before you start cleaning. After you remove the valves, you should take out the cartridge. It may be dirty or damaged, so you can clean it with hot water or vinegar, but you should replace it if necessary.

Depending on the type of valve you have, you might also need to check your water supply valves. They can cause low water pressure. If they're not the issue, you may have to contact the water company. The water main valve is usually located near the basement or the water heater. If you can't find it, check with your neighbors or your water supplier.

Check the water pressure

The next step is to clean the supply lines. Make sure to unplug the hot water line first, then disconnect the cold water line. After cleaning the supply lines, you can reattach the cold water and hot water valves. After that, make sure to check the water pressure before turning on the stainless steel pull out kitchen tap .

You can also clean the aerator. Aerators are often clogged by mineral deposits. Try soaking it in distilled white vinegar overnight. Be careful not to drop any loose parts down the drain, though.
